Docents

A docent at the PMA is a volunteer who conducts tours, presents art exploration trunks, and assists with outreach programs and workshops for the public, school and local groups, out-of-state visitors and senior citizens.

Docents are motivated by love of art and people, a desire to be involved in public services, and an interest in the study of art and self development. Being a docent requires the ability and desire to engage in an on-going learning process about the PMA exhibitions and a willingness to impart to groups of all ages what has been learned about these exhibitions. A docent is expected to participate in all training sessions throughout the year, prepare for all programs, and carry out all scheduled tours.

The Guild

The Pensacola Museum of Art Guild was established to support and promote the Museum's effort to increase knowledge of the visual arts. We provide sponsorhsip of various exhibits, work with various hands-on programs, promote museum membership and assist in exhibit-related events held at the museum. Our membership provides volunteers wherever needed to further museum functions.

The Guild is open to any adult who is a member of the museum. We have an elected board of directors whose duties are to ensure that the Guild meets the mission of our organization.

The Guild meets the third Tuesday of the month from September through May at various locations. Refreshments are always served. Often our meetings include luncheons as well. Each meeting provides a visual arts related program for our members. The Guild would welcome your membership in our organization. For further information call 850.432.6247.
