JOIN THE PMA DOCENT ASSOCIATION! |

The word "docent" comes from the Latin word docre meaning "to teach." PMA docents are trained volunteer educators who guide museum visitors of all ages on tours of exhibitions, present educational trunks, present DBAE art lessons to partner schools and work in preparing exhibitions. Docents can expect to receive from the program as much as they are willing to put into it. Docents are one of the museums public educational voices. If you have the interest, enthusiasm and time, the Museum's Educational Department will make sure you find the right volunteer position and you receive the training you need. Free Fall Multicultural Family Day |

Free Fall Multicultural Family Day Saturday, Oct. 4 2008 12:00-4:00 PM
It’s hard to believe that we are already halfway through the summer! With fall right around the corner, the Pensacola Museum of Art is gearing up for our annual Free Fall Multicultural Family Day. This exciting event, now in its sixth year, will take place at the PMA on Saturday, October 4 from 12-4 PM. This is a free event, open to all, and there will be a little something for everyone. Multicultural Family Day is a fun filled arts fair complete with musical performances, dancers, costumes, artistic demonstrations, and more, all of which are designed to stimulate the senses while celebrating the cultural diversity that exists in Northwest Florida. The event is centered around our Traveling Art Exploration Trunks. The trunks are filled with art, artifacts, and curiosities from around the world. Each trunk highlights a different country and/or culture represented in our community, including Norway, Greece, Japan, Africa, Latin America, and Native America. Corresponding “Creation Stations” will be set up throughout the museum with each trunk. Kids and parents alike are invited to create crafts inspired by the culture and traditions represented in each trunk. Join us for an afternoon of fun and sharing as we travel around the world right here at the PMA!
